IBM’s fourth-quarter earnings grew 6 percent even as revenue was largely flat, as the company benefited from growing, lucrative software businesses such as Internet-based computing and data analytics. The results beat Wall Street’s expectations, as did the technology bellwether’s guidance for the current year. IBM’s stock increased in after-hours trading following the release of results.

The D Street Marketing tip of the week is to not overlook the page title.  The page title is one of the most important elements for on-the-page SEO.  The page title not only helps develop credibility but can help be used to improve the click-through-rate (CTR).  Most websites use their company name as the page title; while it is important to communicate the name of your business, it isn’t immediately relevant to searchers looking for information about a particular keyword phrase. As with most page tags, it makes sense to research keyword phrases and use the most relevant, high volume keyword phrase as the page title.  It is ok to have your company name after that but somewhat unnecessary as most searchers 1) won’t recognize your business and 2) will learn who you are once they click on your listing.  Another common mistake is to use the same page title on every page within a website.  Unless every page is identical, each page title should be unique and describe what is actually on the page.  This is a great technique to optimize your site for several related keywords (e.g
